Terms of Service

Last updated: January 2025

Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using splitty ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use splitty. If you're under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

Description of Service

splitty is a bill-splitting application that helps users divide restaurant bills and other shared expenses. The App uses optical character recognition (OCR) to scan receipts and calculate individual shares. Receipt images are uploaded to our servers for processing and stored securely to enable features like viewing past receipts.

Use of the App

You agree to use splitty only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
  • Use the App to transmit harmful code or malware

Accuracy of Information

While we strive for accuracy, splitty's OCR technology may occasionally misread receipt items or totals. You are responsible for verifying calculations before sending payment requests to others. We are not liable for any disputes arising from calculation errors.

Payment Integrations

splitty integrates with third-party payment services (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Monzo, Revolut, etc.) for convenience. We are not responsible for:

  • The availability or functionality of these services
  • Any fees charged by these services
  • Disputes related to payments made through these services
  • Any losses resulting from failed or incorrect payments

In-App Purchases

splitty offers optional in-app purchases and subscriptions for premium features. All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's terms and conditions. Refund requests should be directed to Apple.

Analytics and Crash Reporting

We collect anonymous usage data and crash reports to improve the App. If the App crashes, diagnostic information—including a screenshot of the current app state—may be captured. This data helps us identify and fix issues. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, features, and content, is owned by splitty and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, splitty shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless splitty, its developers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

Severability

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and splitty regarding the App.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
